World Book Day is just around the corner, and it’s the perfect opportunity to snuggle up and share the joy of reading with your little ones.
Across Ireland, families, preschools, and early years settings will be celebrating stories, imagination, and the magic that books bring to children’s lives.
Here at Early Days, we’ll be taking time during our lunch breaks to read in the office – and we’d love for you to join in at home too.
Because when toddlers discover books early, it helps build a lifelong love of learning.
🌟 Why reading is so important for toddlers
Reading together in the early years supports your child’s development in so many ways.
It helps to:
Grow vocabulary and early speech skills
Support listening and attention
Encourage creativity and imagination
Build confidence
Create calm, bonding moments with parents and caregivers
Even just 5–10 minutes a day can make a big difference.
For toddlers, it’s not about sitting still or finishing the story – it’s about enjoying the experience together.
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.“
